Steve Wysong started out repairing ‘black boxes’ in the early 1970’s on airliners for Eastern and Pan Am airlines.  In 1979,  Mr. Wysong began building his business, Wysong Avionics, at an airport in South Florida and there installed some of the first Electronic News Gathering (E.N.G.)  equipment on a helicopter. Steve then moved to the Tri-Cities Tennessee area in 1987; and the assets of Wysong Avionics were sold to Edwards and Associates, a helicopter services company located in Northeast Tennessee. Mr. Wysong used his expertise and vast knowledge of the avionics industry to establish Edward’s current avionics shop and was then asked to manage the avionics shop. Two years later, in 1989, he left Edwards and re-opened his own business which is located at the Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TRI) in Blountville, TN under the company’s current name, Wysong Enterprises, Inc. Mr. Wysong and his staff of professionals have worked in various stages of the aviation industry including airliners, corporate jets, and small aircraft; but time and experience have led them to specialize in helicopter completions and helicopter repairs. Wysong Enterprises has worked hard to build an exceptional working environment and today has over 25 employees.

A pioneer in the Electronic News Gathering Industry since the early 1980’s, Wysong Enterprises has supplied major networks with live on the scene video from more than a mile away. An example of one of Wysong Enterprise’s systems came into prominence when an estimated 95 million people watched as O.J. Simpson and Al Cowlings led police on a low speed chase along California’s Interstate. Some of the equipment used to broadcast that chase was built from scratch by Steve Wysong. More recently, Wysong’s equipment was utilized to bring footage to the nation of the devastating damage brought by Hurricane Katrina in the summer of 2005.
